We are delighted to report that Jordan Energy & Mining's Concession Agreement has now formally been accorded a Royal Decree by the Royal Court of His Majesty King Abdullah II, having passed through Jordan's Upper House in early August.

JORDAN OIL SHALE AGREEMENT SIGNED - MARCH 2011

On 9th March 2011 a Concession Agreement to exploit an area of Jordan's vast oil shale resources was signed by the Jordanian government and Karak International Oil (KIO), a subsidiary of the UK's Jordan Energy & Mining Limited. Under the terms of the Agreement, KIO will invest up to $1.8 billion in a project to extract and process oil shale in a 35 sq km area of Al Lajjun, Karak. The project is expected to produce 15,000 barrels of oil per day in 2015.
