The story so far

The founders of Jordan Energy and Mining recognised the potential of Jordan's extensive oil shale resources, having advised the government on mining and mineral policy for ten years.

They were invited to bid for oil shale concession areas along with 12 other organisations and established Jordan Energy and Mining in 2006.  With decades of experience of the mining industry and a wealth of legal and financial knowledge, the founders were well placed to seize the opportunity.

Jordan Energy and Mining submitted a winning bid and was awarded 33% of Jordan's high grade Al Lajjun resource.  The company secured exclusive use of the modern and energy efficient ATP technology in Jordan.

Jordan Energy and Mining processed 86 tonnes of Al Lajjun oil shale in a successful pilot at a test plant in Calgary, Canada and produced 50 barrels of shale oil.

A comprehensive pre-feasibility study confirmed that the combination of Al Lajjun oil shale and ATP technology makes Jordan Energy and Mining's activities technically and commercially viable.

Impressed with results and progress, the Jordanian government awarded Jordan Energy and Mining a second deposit at Attarat, close to its Al Lajjun site. This Attarat resource was later swapped for an additional area of the Al Lajjun deposit to deliver a more consolidated, higher grade resource.
